On Monday, the Los Angeles 2024 Olympic Bid Committee announced that the city will host the 2028 Summer Games. U.S. women’s national soccer team (USWNT) forward Alex Morgan, who is a member of the Athletes’ Advisory Commission, made a statement about the decision to bring the games to Los Angeles.
Morgan, who is currently competing for the USWNT at the Tournament of Nations in Carson, Calif. spoke in front of her teammates, City Council Chairman Herb Wesson and Bid Committee Chairman Casey Wasserman at the Stub Hub Center, home to the LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer.
“Our Olympic and Paralympic legacy isn’t just about the games themselves, it’s about the tremendous value of inspiration, teamwork and competition in shaping the lives of young people throughout the world. I can’t wait to follow the sun to LA,” Morgan said.
